Yamaha CS-40m Fixed!
Yay! The replacement VCO chips for the Yamaha CS-40m arrived. I plugged one in, tuned up all the oscillators (what a PAIN!!!) and it works great again. What a relief to have that fixed. Now I just have to get the OB-8 fixed and I’m all set again.
Thanks to Doug at www.synthparts.com!
Also, I really like the Dave Smith Instruments Mopho. As much as I love the minimoog, I think they should take a nod from Dave. There is really no reason to make the LFO analog. I doubt it makes any difference to the sound and the problems are: Can’t sync to midi or anything else, costly, large (lost of circuitry). If you use digital LFOs you can have more of them, make them syncable, and they are smaller and cheaper.
The mopho has 4 LFOs and 4 sequences and it’s all in a little tiny box about an eighth the size of the Voyager RME. Not to mention less than a quarter of the price! So yeah, it’d be nice to see a new mini built that way for more flexibility and lower cost.
