SSD Upgrade!

Just thought I’d mention that I upgraded the system drive ( C: ) in my computer to an SSD drive for a little extra speed. I got a Crucial 128gb M4. This is definitely the best simple upgrade to speed up your computer without spending a lot.

So far I’d say things are moving about twice as fast. The computer runs at the same speed so the majority of operations are no different but every time it has to access anything on that drive, it is MUCH faster.

So reboots are faster, programs start up much faster and they tend to run smoother because every time they have to access a DLL on that drive it happens very quick.

In the future when I next do a major computer upgrade, I may replace one of my other hard drives with a 256gb SSD and use it as my work drive. I would have all active Sonar projects on that drive, then move them to a standard drive when I was finished with them just to make room for new stuff. This would definitely make larger projects with lots of audio (or video projects) run much faster and smoother.
